On the village's riverside, among beautiful plastered and painted buildings, mostly dating from early 20th century, there remain numerous examples of architecture typical of shale areas. On the right bank, part of a picturesque building complex, which includes several watermills and old shale houses, the street of “Rua do Passadiço” stands out, a public passage next to a house known locally as “passadiço”(walkaway in English). Next to this, it is located an oil press. The Lagar do Ribeiro (olive oil press) was in operation until the beginning of the 21st century, but since 2019 it has become a museum space that you can visit to learn about the traditional process of making olive oil. Like the other ancient structures in the village, the mill has the peculiarity of including shale in its construction from the riverbed.
