Cântaros

Located in the headwaters of the Zêzere river, on the edge of the Torre plateau, they represent the most emblematic relief forms of Serra da Estrela. Their characteristic shapes result from the action of glacial and fluvial erosion, and three canyons are recognised: the Cântaro Magro, which reaches an altitude of around 1928 meters and is visible from various points on the Serra da Estrela; the Cântaro Gordo, with a maximum altitude of 1875 meters, and finally the Cântaro Raso at 1916 meters. Difficult to access, the viewpoint on national road 338 is one of the best places to observe these imposing rocks.
