Female empowerment project “As Queijeiras”

In Serra da Estrela and Mountain Villages, female cheesemakers have a large know-how and be considered the real embassadors of the territory. However, their role is not recognized nor valued and their lidership and management skills are not aligned with current needs.

This innovative project is dedicated to honor the women that produce cheese in the region of Serra da Estrela and Mountain Villages, through a Burel cape, produced by Burel Factory, that will finance an empowerment workshop to these women.

A book is also to be produced to honor and immortalize the life stories of these amazing women.
