Vale das Éguas is located south of Penhas Douradas, at an altitude of more than 1470 meters, being crossed by a set of streams that drain into the Vale do Rossim reservoir. The site is framed by extensive areas of bush and in the most depressed and humid areas, it has an area of “cervunal” (mountain meadows). Here are herbaceous plants well-adapted to the adverse mountain environment, and in the surrounding landscape there is a huge diversity of typical forms of granite relief, resulting from the chemical alteration and erosion of these rocks.
